Essential Info
Indigo 2.0 is home automation software designed specifically for the Mac. With support for INSTEON-compatible products, the software can control all the devices -- including lights, sprinklers, security systems and more -- in your INSTEON network over the existing electrical wires in your home. With Indigo, you can program specific action events to occur based on a variety of variables, including time. For example, you can program any lights to turn on and off at specific times, or at sunset. You can also include an optional time randomizing feature for an at-home look, even if you're across the country. With this innovative Mac home automation software, you can even create delayed actions (i.e. turn off lights after 10 minutes of no motion being detected). Your Mac will become an intelligent home control server, offering unprecedented control of your home via manual computer or remote control operation, and timed or conditional variables. A powerline interface as well as INSTEON and X10 products are sold separately. If you want to upgrade, get the updated version. The release of the Indigo 3.0 is a major update to previous versions of the home control and automation server for Mac OS X. Most notably, support now includes control of additional INSTEON devices, such as the Thermostat Adapter, OutletLinc, KeypadLinc Relay and the IRLinc. Additionally an INSTEON link and scene management editor has been built in so that remotely defining links and scenes can be done easily and reliably from Indigo 3.0 software. NOTE: Smarthome does not accept returns on any opened software.

New to Version 2.0The newest version of the Indigo boasts a few major changes. Version 2.0 has been completely redesigned as a client/server application so now you can control and configure your home automation network from any remote computer with Internet access. Laying unobtrusively in the background of your Mac, the server application consumes minimal CPU resources. In addition to an integrated HTTP web server, Indigo 2.0 now supports graphical web-based Control Pages that allow you to quickly design controllable home interfaces that update in real time with changes in the real environment.
Web Based Control PagesIn addition to having a built-in HTTP web server, Indigo supports graphical Control Pages, allowing you to quickly create web controllable home interfaces. These Control Pages update in real time as device and variable states change.
Indigo UI MakeoverThe entire look and feel --from the windows to the panels -- has been revamped in the latest version of Indigo. In addition to aesthetic changes, several other improvements have been added, including the ability to resize windows, scroll wheel support, embedded AppleScript compiling, error reporting, and syntax coloring.
Conditional Triggers In addition to incorporating motion detectors to turn on lights or other devices as you walk into the room, the software can also respond to events based on incoming e-mails (programmed by e-mail subject lines or sender address). This feature allows you to remotely control any appliance or light, even your hot tub, by sending Indigo an e-mail or by using a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone and Salling Clicker.
Support ScenesIndigo also allows you to create different lighting scenes, like "Party," "Movie," "Sleeping," "Away," for perfect multi-room lighting levels at the touch of a button. A wide array of action groups can be used to define lighting scenes and other one-step macro sequences.
Supports Notification FeaturesIndigo can also notify you via user-defined spoken announcements or e-mail (SMTP) when actions occur. This feature is ideal if you want to be notified when there's a power failure or when motion is detected in certain rooms of your home.
Compatible With Most Smarthome INSTEON and X10 ProductsIndigo communicates with INSTEON devices through the INSTEON PowerLinc Controller USB*, and it communicates with X10-compatible devices via a variety of X10 interfaces, including ActiveHome/CM-11A. Indigo even offers easy adjusting of the SwitchLinc, ToggleLinc and KeypadLinc preferences, including default dim level, on/off ramp rate and switch transmitting state.
Created Just for Mac OS XDeveloped from the ground up specifically for use with Mac OS X, Indigo utilizes pre-emptive multi-tasking and protected memory, making for an outstanding home control operating system. When idle, Indigo uses a very small percentage of your computer's CPU cycles. This ensures that you will not have any problems running Indigo in the background while you use your computer to do other tasks.
Other features include: Graphical progress bar shows the status of commands being sent to and from the X10 interface Device list view allows manual control of all devices Native variable list to easily keep track of automation states, such as "home" or "away" Easy to read log files of all activity on the powerline Script menu for quick access and editing of all scripts Automatic deleting of old log files Modern threaded architecture minimizes CPU usage and prevents UI from becoming blocked (no busy cursor!), even when sending long dim or brighten commands Extensive AppleScript dictionary, including object model and plug-in architecture Define embedded or externally-linked AppleScript actions
Note: The computer must remain on and running the Indigo program for all functions to operate. For computer-less operations, Indigo can download basic functions like timers and macros to the PowerLinc Controller USB Interface.
Updates to the software from the previous version include the following: Indigo Client/Server Design Web Based Control Pages Indigo UI Makeover Native Sprinkler Support Supports both PPC and Intel Macs Improved POP3 and SMTP Clients New Time/Date Action Options New INSTEON and X10 Trigger Types Multiple Actions (without having to create Action Groups) Added more AppleScript properties
